to be a member to come along?
No. Anyone is welcome to come. Joining the club will cost you £5.00 a year. Membership entitles you to a reduction to the entrance fee of, usually, £2. |
|
How do I
become a member?
The easiest way to become a member is to come along, ask to join at the door and fill in a membership card and GDPR consent form. Membership costs £5.00 for the year and you'll receive a bi-annual programme listing of the acts appearing at the club. Membership entitles you to a reduced entrance fee to the club every concert. Alternatively, please email us and we'll arrange membership by post. |

Where
does Hitchin Folk Club run?
At Hitchin Cricket Club, The Pavilion, Lucas Lane, Hitchin, Herts., SG5 2JA. Email us with your address, requesting a map, or enter postcode on a mapping website, such as www.multimap.com. There is also a local map on the directions page. |
|
When does
the club run?
The club runs usually twice a month, on Sundays throughout the year, with a summer break and short break at Christmas. Doors open at 6.45pm. The music starts at 7.30pm promptly and finishes at 10.15pm. |
Are
floor singers welcome?
Hitchin is a concert style club with one or two main acts, which doesn't leave time during the evening for floor singers. There are many local clubs, most of which have singers nights 2 or 3 evenings a month, and time for floor singers even on guest nights. The Unicorn online magazine lists all the local clubs and their programmes. |
Can
I stay at the venue?
No. The venue does not have accommodation facilities. There is a Premier Inn in town, 5 minutes by car. Portmill Lane, SG5 1DJ. 01462 410762. As with all Premier Inns, the earlier you book, the better the deal available. Also the Firs Hotel, 83 Bedford Road, SG5 2TY, info@firshotel.co.uk, 01462 422322, about 10mins walk to the Folk Club. and Bella Vita Hotel in Sun Street, SG5 1AE, enquiries@bellavitahotel.com , 01462 434380 |
Can
I eat at the venue before the concert?
There are the usual bar snacks available, but no facilities for meals. However, Hitchin has, probably the best selection of excellent eating places in Hertfordshire, mainly centred around Sun Street in the town centre. Lussmanns is a fish restaurant, Zizzis for Italian, Dhaka for Indian, Mevan and Bosphorus for Turkish, plus a Wetherspoons at the Angel Vaults and a Pizza Express. For good pub fare and relatively close to the Club with good parking, is The Angels, 5 minutes away on Bedford Road, SG5 2NG. |
Does
the club allow children?
We are pleased to welcome children to the club. On sell-out nights, there are no concessions and everyone needs a ticket at full price. On other nights , members can bring children under 16 along free of charge, but this concession does not apply to non-members! We do expect children to be kept under control and quiet, moving them to the bar if they become noisy. On these nights, young people in full time education are admitted at half price. Please check "sell out" status with us. |
Can
I book tickets in advance?
Tickets can be purchased in advance at earlier concerts, or email us with your ticket requests. Payment can be made online and by card contactless at the Club, Please note: Membership prices refer to members only. Tickets for non-members must be purchased as such!
Goodwill is extremely important to us, but we are
still having problems with tickets being returned at the door on the
night, with no realistic chance of us being able to resell them.
Sometimes people turn up on the off chance but this is rare,
and it is obviously too late to contact a waiting list. Please let us
know, we do often have people waiting for a phone call. In view
of this continuing situation, we have decided that we will not be able
to guarantee a refund on tickets that we are told about after the
Saturday preceding the concert. If we are able to resell tickets
returned after that, then we will refund.
